CHARLIE SHEPARD

Partner, Gonser Gerber

Charlie joined Gonser Gerber in 2017 as a Senior Consultant and Partner in 2020. He provides development consulting services to healthcare systems, colleges, universities, social services, museums, and other non-profit organizations. His specialty includes developing and strengthening Governing Boards, Foundation Boards, annual, capital, major and planned gift programs, campaign planning and execution, performance metrics, volunteer engagement, strategic planning, public relations, advancement team building, integrated marketing and other aspects of institutional advancement.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Charlie served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Asbury University in Kentucky, where he led a successful advancement program and was responsible for launching the University’s historically most ambitious comprehensive campaign, a $62M endeavor that raised $50.3M in the first three years. During this time, he and his team witnessed nearly a 50% increase in membership in the President’s Leadership Giving Society ($1,000+ annually); closed a record 13 gifts of $1M+, and engaged 50+ volunteers in the campaign effort.

 

Before Asbury University, Charlie served in various roles of increasing responsibility at The University of Findlay in Ohio. As Associate Vice President for Development and Campaign Director, he led a team of professionals through the pre-campaign and launch phase of Give Voice to Your Values, a $40M comprehensive campaign. While at Findlay, he also held roles as Director of Development, Major Gift Officer, Co-Director of Alumni Relations and Coordinator of Prospect Research.
